| Summertown Stars AFC 5 a-side
Football Tournament |
Saturday
21st and Sunday 22nd June: Oxford is awash with traditions: May morning,
Eights Week, Japanese tourists failing to negotiate the
Cherwell aboard a punt. But just off the ring road every
year is one of the town’s more endearing annual events:
the Summertown Stars Five-a-side football tournament. For
more than 25 years, for one mid-summer weekend North Oxford
purrs with the excited sound of junior sport - plus the
yelp of at least one adult helper cursing because they
have burned their fingers on the barbecue!
Summertown Stars AFC is the largest youth football club
in Oxfordshire, and this year’s annual 5 a-side tournament
is bigger than ever with both boys and girls competitions.
The event will be held at Cutteslowe Park, and we will
have well prepared and roped off pitches, official referees,
ample parking, stalls, a penalty shoot-out competition,
and hot and cold refreshments including a spectacular BBQ.
Once again, the club will be supporting the Oxford Children’s
Hospital at the event.
Come and join in the fun – it is a fantastic family
day out. |
