My family were all rather nervous when they stepped into the reception area of Studio8, but they certainly didn’t stay like this for long. By the end of the session they all fancied themselves to be budding models and had struck a few rather interesting poses during the photo shoot.
The team at Studio 8 are professional, informal and fun which is definitely a good combination when dealing with children. Although I have attended photo shoots for corporate work, this was my first time doing a family shoot.
When we booked we opted for a studio shoot rather than a home session, as we wanted a slightly more formal but relaxed feel. Upon arrival at the studio we were greeted and shown around. The studio set is a great expanse of white, both on the walls and floor, with varying sizes of white boxes placed strategically for us to sit and lean on.
Having changed into suitable attire, fiddled with our hair a little, possibly even our makeup (well, I did) we then launched into an hilarious mix of both individual and mixed poses with us pulling various positions and expressions depending on owner Clarke’s instructions.
The general consensus from my children was that they enjoyed the experience and felt relaxed most of the time. Elle, my youngest aged 6, loved the opportunity to run at the camera or jump out from behind boxes, Stan (aged 7) said “I thought the studio was very hop-up and hop-down. I think the photographer was very professional and good with children … I got little sweets downstairs … My last thing was that I enjoyed every single thing about it.” While my teenage daughter thought it was all a little too cheesy, my teenage son acted like he was auditioning to become a male model!
I was invited back to the studio a few days later to look at the wonderful selection of photos of my children. The difficult task was to pick a few that we would like to have framed. We are delighted with our chosen photos and certainly know what we are giving the Grandparents for Christmas.
Studio 8 gave us the opportunity to record a moment in time and we thank them for making the experience so much fun.
