Roppongi lounge and club
opened earlier this year and is a stylish,
classy bar conveniently located on the popular
George Street in the heart of the city. The
name is derived from an area in Japan known
for housing the rich and famous, and this is
the tone that the manager is aiming for.
Complete
with red carpet and glowing lights, the door
leads down sparkling stairs into the small
but attractive club. The walls are decorated
with mosaic mirrors that glitter in the lights,
and the furniture is a tasteful glass, chrome
and leather, with slate flooring. The VIP area
is a secluded and luxurious space, sectioned
off with draping threads, and on each table
is a stylish drinks cooler perfect for that
bottle of champagne that must be enjoyed in
such upmarket surroundings.
The professional
staff are friendly and welcoming, ensuring
you feel relaxed and catered for. There is
an extensive selection of drinks, including
classic cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails,
wine, bottled beer and champagne. There is
also a small selection of bar snacks for very
reasonable prices. Special offers include ‘after
work drinks’ at reduced prices between 5:30
until 8:30. Roppongi’s ‘signature hours’ offer
reduced price drinks between 8:30 and 11pm,
including cocktails, champagne and shots. Premier
DJs play classic dance, current pop and house
music, perfect for dancing or simply setting
the scene whilst you socialise. The dance floor
is a modest size and although there isn’t much
seating throughout the club and it can get
quite crowded, the great atmosphere and contemporary
music creates a cool vibe.
Although some of
the details were lacking, for example the toilet
facilities and finishing touches to the décor
were noticeably disappointing, Roppongi has
undoubtedly started to shake off the reputation
left by their predecessors.
Guest appearances
from Calum Best, some of the cast form Hollyoaks
and other celebrities are a regular occurrence
at Roppongi, adding to the glitzy and glamorous
feel of this unique place. Make sure you keep
an eye out for events hosted by the rich and
famous. Fantastic reservation packages are
available, ranging from silver to platinum,
each offering waitress service, free entry
for a limited number of guests and a selection
of drinks, guaranteeing an evening of VIP treatment,
whatever you are celebrating. Check out the
website for more details.
Roppongi is open 7
nights a week, 5:30pm until late during the
week and until 3am Fridays and Saturdays. It
attracts a discerning audience of young professionals
and those who appreciate the finer things in
life. This stylish and contemporary lounge
bar is a must for anyone who wants a modern
club with likeminded people, without the undertones
of excess apparent in so many other venues.
