There is something special about a restaurant owner meeting & greeting their client’s in person, and there is certainly something special going on at the Oxy Oriental in the Ozone Leisure Park. The setting is unique, with a vibrant warehouse / canteen look and feel to the restaurant, complete with the atmospheric clattering and chattering essential to this type of contemporary venue.
The whole experience is very visual, including the buffet area, where an amazing oriental spread is laid out before you. This includes a huge range of sumptuous foods from Sushi, all your favourites from a more traditional oriental menu (except seaweed!) and a selection of Teppan-Yaki dishes, (you choose from a raw food buffet and they flash cook it to your style in minutes!).
You are free to return to the food area as often as you like and as you dine, the courteous staff wander through the restaurant offering you various dishes from their exquisite Brazilian Roast selection. A large bar serves all the usual drinks as well as a few oriental specials, and is well staffed - so no waiting. The self service desert menu, if you have room, includes toffee banana and ice cream, brilliant!
To most of us buffet equals quantity. The Oxy Oriental Buffet (read banquet) equals mouth watering quality, where levels of food on show and speed of consumption are constantly monitored to ensure the food isn’t sitting about for ages, and reaches you in perfect condition.
Loads of free parking and a location just on the outskirts of Oxford makes this a GREAT choice for a number of occasions. Whether you choose a quick lunch time buffet (£5.90, or £6.90 on Saturdays), an evening out with a group of friends (£12.50, or £13.50 Friday & Saturday) or a Christmas Party (up to 180 seats), you are sure to leave The Oxy totally satisfied. Discounts are available for children under 145cm, or if you just fancy a take away, 60cl boxes are just £4.95 with a free soft drink!
Overall, a fantastic experience, and a restaurant that I will certainly return to, even if only to make sure I didn’t just miss the seaweed!
