The Oxford Castle – A Great Venue for All the Family
As Oxford Castle celebrates five years, Christmas was launched in 2009 with a very special night for all the family. It showed the true character of Oxford Castle as a great venue for children and parents who enjoy magical events in a safe environment for the children.
With snow billowing from the top of Oxford’s leading hotel, Malmaison, it was hard not to get in the festive spirit as the band played and the ice sculptors worked their magic on huge blocks of ice, transforming them into an array of festive characters and incredible works of art.
Founder of Oxford Castle, Trevor Osborne, was one of the enthralled crowd present. “I think this is what Oxford Castle is all about. I wish we could do it every weekend! It just goes to show that the people of Oxford love it here at the Castle as a venue to bring the children. Of course we want families to visit our restaurants, but nights like tonight give us the opportunity to showcase the Castle for what it is, and if it means families come back another day, then we have done our job.”
General Manager, Jean-Pierre Morilleau, breathed a huge sigh of relief after the event, but admitted the weeks of hard work had been worth it. “I think you know when an event has gone well if you can enjoy it. I loved every minute of it. The children looked happy, the parents were smiling and the atmosphere was quite magical. It shows what a great venue Oxford Castle is and in 2010 we will be putting on more events like this for the family to enjoy.”
With a wide range of restaurants including La Tasca, Pizza Express, Malmaison, Prezzo, The Living Room and Carluccio’s, Oxford Castle has something for everyone. New arrival, JD Wetherspoon (The Swan and Castle), offers visitors to the Castle a great place for a celebratory drink, and Krispy Kreme is the place to go for fresh donuts.
For art lovers, visit The 03 Gallery in the main square or Oxford Castle Unlocked for a trip back in time to when naughty boys and girls were thrown into the dungeon, and fed bread and water, if they were lucky!
