Choosing a school for their child is one of the most important decisions a parent will have to make. It is a matter of matching his or her abilities, needs and personality to an environment in which he or she will flourish and achieve their potential. Our Lady’s Abingdon makes the choice easier by offering education from Nursery through to the Sixth Form – currently boys 3-11, and girls 3-18. From September 2009 this full choice will also be open to boys as well as girls when OLA Senior School will admit boys at 11+ and in the Sixth Form, becoming fully co-educational by 2013.
Each pupil is viewed as a unique individual with his or her own special gifts and talents. By offering opportunities to enjoy success in a variety of different areas we help to broaden horizons and develop self-confidence. Our pupils leave us as well-rounded and independent individuals, with good academic qualifications and a sound moral and spiritual basis for the next stage of their lives.
The Nursery provides a gentle introduction to school life. The early years are critical for children as they progress rapidly during this time – physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Highly qualified and experienced Early Years staff offer a supportive and positive environment in which your child can develop as a happy and flourishing learner.
The Junior School shares many of the Senior School’s facilities including a totally refurbished 25m indoor swimming pool. Throughout the School sport is inclusive. Everyone is welcome to take part regardless of ability with every pupil participating fully, developing interests that will last a lifetime enabling him or her to maintain a healthy mind and body.
Not only do pupils at OLA achieve excellent examination results (as can be seen on the website), they are also able to find expression for creative talents and to discover that education is not a process solely confined to the classroom. This feeling is expressed by one of this year’s Sixth Form leavers, “Our Lady’s has a strong sense of community supported by excellent facilities. I have had seven years of enjoyable learning, a feeling of belonging and the confidence to pursue my dreams and ambitions.”
If you feel your son or daughter would also enjoy the experience of Our Lady’s please contact us to arrange a personal visit. You are very welcome to visit our Open Morning on Saturday 18 October 10.00am-1.00pm, or, for parents of Year 11 pupils, the 6th Form Open Evening on Tuesday 7 October at 7.30pm.
OLA is registered for the Early Years Scheme. A Scholarships and Bursaries scheme is also available.
