With a mixture of jovial locals, contented tourists and welcoming staff, you would be hard pressed to find a more perfect Country Pub. The Blacks Head Inn also recently played host to an event for the opening of Springwell Close, Bletchingdon, by HRH Prince Charles.
Located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bletchingdon, just five miles from the centre of Oxford, The Blacks Head Inn dates back to the 17th century. Within striking distance of Oxford and The Cotswolds, this wonderful Inn also offers bed and breakfast accommodation, perfect for visitors to Oxford and the surrounding areas, from just £30 per person per night.
But there are also surprises within. Although, as a family of four, we opted for the more traditional English Breakfast, soup and Spaghetti Bolognese, don’t ignore the Wild Boar, Crocodile and Springbok steaks on offer. And on Sundays, there are always three roasts available with a vegetarian alternative.
The effort which goes into making The Blacks Head Inn is evident for all to see. It is obvious that proprietor Jayne Evans, an experienced pub operator, and her team have their customers and the local community at the forefront of their minds at all times. This is evident in their due care and attention in servicing and integrating with the customers, but also through the website and posters in the pub declaring The Blacks Head Inn as the ‘heart of the community’, supporting and considering the local community at all times.
And this translates to the suppliers, always locally sourced, encouraging and supporting the local farming industry – hopefully with the exception of the crocodiles! With an excellent range of Lite Lunch Bites, a great range of baguettes and a naughty but nice dessert menu, you will also discover a wide selection of drinks, including real ale, wines, and soft drinks, including tea and coffee. To the rear of the Blacks Head Inn is a Conservatory and large Garden with Aunt Sally, a perfect rest spot for the many walkers and dog owners that pass by.
Venture out to Bletchingdon and experience the delights of The Blacks Head Inn.
