I have discovered my new favourite place: Angels tucked away on Little Clarendon Street. You may not have come across this fantastic cocktail bar but it’s about time you did!
The interior of the bar is impressive. You walk into another world: there is a huge black and white portrait of Grace Kelly on red walls; the brown leather sofas and the golden lustres create a beautiful décor that makes you feel like you’re having a cocktail where normally only the rich and famous go. The bar is equipped with everything you could possibly dream of and the bar staff will even create a cocktail specifically for you with your favourite flavours.
Taste buds tingled already as we poured over the menu, which is extensive to say the least. There are five sections: Vintage, Angels Lab, Classic, Heavenly, and Miscellaneous (wines and spirits). Dominika, the enthusiastic bartender, explained that the Vintage cocktails develop from forgotten recipes, found in old books or stories. Angels Lab includes cocktails that the barkeepers created themselves and are therefore completely new. Wing Time 6, a fruity kiwi and apple mixture, or the bubbly Passionate Champagne are just two examples for the endless creativity of the bartenders that we tried.
Bar staff are happy to cater to your every request, even mixing cocktails not on the menu. Non-drinkers are also well catered for. If you are feeling creative, ask for the Bartender Freestyle and the bartender will whip up a non-alcoholic mixture based on any flavours you fancy. The bar also has an extensive downstairs area. Beautifully decorated, with low lighting and an intimate feel, it is the perfect destination for a private party. The downstairs is available to hire out at no cost, merely a minimum spend.
Angels Bar welcomes guests with an atmosphere very different from the standard cocktail lounge or bar you may have come across before. I would recommend it for a relaxing yet indulgent cocktail experience. Nestled inside, the friendly ambience can add many hours of pure enjoyment to your evening, and the happy hour prices (available before 9pm) should make visiting Angels a simple decision.
