The quest to find the perfect cut and colour is almost as arduous as Indiana Jones’
search for the Crystal Skull, but I believe my search has ended after experiencing
the talents of Rob and Karen at the new branch of Andrea & Achille in Kidlington.
My experience began with a brief visit to the salon a few days prior to my appointment
for a patch test to check that I had no allergic reactions colouring process chemicals.
This gave me the opportunity to get a preview of the salon. My first impressions were
very favourable. The main room is flooded by natural daylight from windows running
across the front of the building (there’s nothing worse than finding that your new hair
colour is an altogether different and unflattering colour when you leave an artificiallylit
salon and walk out into the daylight). The interior is a luxurious mix of white leather,
cream and silver that adds to the feeling of indulgence that is crucial to any good trip
to the hairdressers.
Luckily, I had no adverse reaction to the patch test and I was able to return for my
appointment, which began with a colour consultation with Rob, the salon owner.
I wanted go slightly blonder for the summer, so we decided on a root touch up followed
by a head of highlights. Rob began to work his magic and the time flew by as we fell
deep into conversation. In what seemed like no time at all Rob had completed his work
and I was left to admire my luminous new colour as I was passed into the capable
hands of Karen for my cut. Rob had set such a high standard; I was interested to know
whether Karen could match his talents. I am pleased to say that she did; it is clear to
see why Rob asked her to move from the Chipping Norton branch to the new Salon.
My request was for an update on my current style, nothing drastically different, but a
change that would make the look more current. She suggested that I introduce a fringe.
I was slightly hesitant, as I have never had a fringe before, but put my faith in Karen’s
capable hands and decided I’d give it a go (thinking if I don’t like it I can grow it, or
invest in a stunning hat). I am pleased that I did, as I was very happy with the result -
it was just what I was looking for.
Leaving the salon, ensuring that I booked my next appointment on the way out,
I felt like one of those girls in the Herbal Essences ads. Yes, yes, yes!
