Edamame restaurant, a tiny Japanese family run eatery tucked
away on one of Oxford’s most beautiful backstreets, celebrated
ten years of operation in November 2008.
One of only six Oxford restaurants in the latest Good Food
Guide (2009), this much-loved cafe has attracted a large
and loyal following over the years and has quietly heightened
its national recognition. It was selected as a “Top 5 Japanese
restaurant in the UK” by the Guardian newspaper, as a “Top
100 UK restaurant” by the BBC’s Olive magazine, and is recommended
highly in successive editions of the renowned Harden’s UK
Restaurants Guides (2003~9).
Despite the existence in Oxford of several Asian “fusion”
and formulaic chain outlets, Edamame fiercely maintains its
policy of serving only authentic Japanese food, presented
in a relaxed and informal manner in a cosy and inviting setting.
