Thursday
15th - Sunday 18th July: Inspired by the simple
principle that people are fascinated when artists and craftsmen
openly demonstrate their skills and discuss their work,
Art in Action was born. In 1977, 51 artists and musicians
took part and 14,000 visitors arrived. The event is now
a showcase for over 250 demonstrators from a wide range
of disciplines including painting, sculpture, drawing,
ceramics and textiles, attracting over 22,000 visitors.
Saturday
17th July: The UK’s premier classical picnic proms
with Spitfire, cannons, cavalry and fireworks. An evening
of exceptional, soul-stirring entertainment in a truly
stunning setting. Gather the troops, pack up your picnic,
and raise a glass to this unique flag-waving, breathtaking
celebration that you will never forget; it’s the ultimate
proms in the park!

28th March: Blenheim Palace
is the proud winner of the Historic Houses Association/Christie’s
Garden of the Year Award in 2008. To celebrate the 25th
anniversary of the award, HHA and Christie’s of London
commissioned a professional photography competition and
exhibition featuring images of the winning gardens of
the last 25 years. Blenheim Palace will host this fabulous
photographic exhibition for six weeks from the opening
of the new season in 2010.
The exhibition will include
images created by acclaimed landscape photographer Simon
Norfolk. Norfolk captured Blenheim Palace's oak trees
back-lit at night to represent soldiers on the battlefield
at the Battle of Blenheim 1704.
The stunning Formal Gardens
at Blenheim Palace include the majestic Water Terraces,
the ornate Italian Garden, the secluded Secret Garden
with winding streams and water features, the fragrant
Rose Garden, Arboretum and the Pleasure Gardens which
includes Europe’s largest symbolic hedge maze.
Guided
tours of the Palace’s State Rooms are available daily
(except Sundays and Bank Holidays) including the permanent
exhibition on Winston Churchill, and the fascinating
visitor experience ‘Blenheim Palace: The Untold Story’
where 300 years of enticing tales are revealed.
A Hare-Brained Easter
Hunt!

2nd - Monday 5th April: If you are looking for a
great day out this Easter Weekend why not come to Blenheim
Palace and join in the eighth annual Easter Challenge in
the Pleasure Gardens. This year the Easter challenge has
a ‘Hare and the Tortoise’ theme, and while the hunters
are busy finding clues the rest of the family can take
in the beautiful views of the Park and Gardens which at
this time of year will be brimming with daffodils.
Whether you like to dash about like a bunny or take your
time like a tortoise, the Hare-brained Hunt will have you
searching high and low in the Pleasure Gardens. Complete
the hunt and you will receive an Easter treat!
Blenheim Palace Tree

2nd - Friday 16th April: Did you know the oldest
oak tree at Blenheim Palace is over 800 years old? Over
the two-week Easter Holiday from 2nd – 16th April you can
challenge the family to the Tree Trail to try to identify
all the types of trees in the Park. The Tree Trail is available
upon arrival at the Park or you can download the trail

Jousting Tournament
Saturday
1st - Monday 3rd May: Gallant Knights and their
mighty steeds will meet at Blenheim Palace to battle for
glory in a spectacular jousting tournament. The weekend
will be packed with action and entertainment including
falconry displays and knights charging in the traditional
tilt and battling on foot with the mighty mace.
The Palace will provide a magnificent backdrop whilst you
enjoy a host of costumed entertainment all day from 11am
onwards including Birds of Prey displays and have a go at
archery. Toys, swords, shields and souvenirs for little lords
and ladies will be available from a special retail marquee
throughout the weekend.

24th April: Elegance, sophistication and glamour
– welcome to the ball of all balls! On Saturday 24 April
2010 Oxfordshire will be home to the most stunning and
stylish ball the county has ever seen. Appropriately
named the ‘Elegant Ball’, the event will take place in
a beautiful marquee within the grounds of Millets Farm
Centre. It will appeal to the more discerning party goer
and is most certainly ‘the’ date for the diary... The
event will mark the first of such balls, which will be
held bi-annually. Tables of 10 will be priced at £1,000.
The Elegant Ball will raise money for Oxfordshire’s charity
SeeSaw, which helps children and their families both
before and after a major bereavement.

Family home
of Lord Faringdon, who looks after the property on behalf
of the National Trust, together with the family collection
of pictures, furniture, ceramics, and objets d’art, known
as the Faringdon Collection. Includes Burne-Jones’s famous
series, The Legend of the Briar Rose. The enchanting gardens
contain the spectacular Water Garden designed by Harold
Peto' - in 1904 for the first Lord Faringdon.

Sunday 28th March: An automata portraying a satire
on the1980’s British way of life in the form of the Adam
and Eve public bar. The landlady and landlord are in
their birthday suits. The landlord pulls pints and wipes
the counter, the landlady smokes and drinks, waves and
winks. A city gent has drunk too much, a biker plays
the fruit machine. The whole scene throbs and pulses
- fertility and creation!
*Exhibition is not suitable for children.
Winston Churchill Oxfordshire
Hussar 1901 - 1965

2010: An exhibition
of new material exploring Churchill as an "enthusiastic
amateur", his relationship with the County and the
Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars, his service as a Territorial
Army officer, ministerial interest in two world wars,
and the regiment's role in his state funeral.
